Florina Headquarters: A Testament to Concrete's Architectural Influence

Qingliang Xu - Masanori Designs' Award-Winning Interior Design Project

Florina Headquarters, a project by Qingliang Xu - Masanori Designs, is a unique exploration of the relationship between architecture and nature, inspired by the application of concrete. This award-winning design project, characterized by its historical and cultural undertones, showcases the transformative power of concrete in shaping world landscapes.

The design of Florina Headquarters draws inspiration from the use of concrete in architecture, the purest relationship with nature. The design is expressed through the basic forms of a square, a circle, and a triangle, embodying the simplicity and strength inherent in nature. The main color chosen for the design is gray, representative of concrete, which became a significant material in altering world landscapes over 250 years ago.

Qingliang Xu - Masanori Designs' unique approach to this project is evident in the dialogue with history, the modesty with culture, the embrace with nature, and the interaction with the times. The design is a harmonious blend of historical, cultural, and contemporary elements, all encapsulated within the basic geometric forms. The result is a space that exudes warmth and high quality, reflecting a high degree of harmony and care for humanity.

The realization of the design was made possible through the use of TOA cement paint, aluminium panel, bronze stainless steel plate, carpet, and concrete prefabricate. The project, which spans an area of 1800 square meters, was carried out in the Nanhai District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province, China, from June 2017 to July 2018.

Despite the challenges faced in the creation of the ceiling and cement decoration wall, the design team, including Zuanquan Huang, managed to overcome these obstacles to produce a design that is both innovative and aesthetically pleasing. The design's unique properties and the team's creative solutions to challenges faced during the project's realization have earned it a Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019.

The Florina Headquarters project is a testament to the transformative power of concrete in architecture. It is a celebration of the material's history, culture, function, development, and future. The design's unique properties, coupled with the team's innovative approach, have resulted in a project that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also reflective of the high degree of harmony and care for humanity.
